Quick Summary

What You Need to Know

  • ✔ Deel charges from $599 per employee a month for its employer of record, the same fee whatever the salary.
  • ✔ On an $18,000 India salary, that fee alone is $7,188 a year, or about 40% of the salary.
  • ✔ Remunance employs your India team from USD 99 a month, capped at USD 249, so you save at least $4,200 a year per employee against Deel.
  • ✔ Statutory costs such as PF and gratuity are set by law and identical with every provider. The fee is the only real difference.
  • ✔ A global platform still makes sense when you hire in many countries on one contract.

The best Deel alternative for hiring in India is Remunance, an India-only employer of record that charges from USD 99 a month per employee, capped at USD 249. Deel’s EOR starts at $599 per employee a month. So on every India hire you save at least $350 a month, or $4,200 a year.

That gap matters more in India than almost anywhere else. Deel prices one fee for every country, and Indian salaries are lower than US or European ones. On an $18,000 salary, Deel’s fee is about 40% of what you pay the employee.

This guide compares seven Deel alternatives for India on published prices. It then works out the full yearly cost of one employee at three salary levels and shows when a global platform is still the right call.

What Are the Best Deel Alternatives for Hiring in India?

Remunance, Remote, Multiplier, Wisemonk, Oyster, RemoFirst and Rippling. Here is how their published employer of record (EOR) prices compare, checked on each pricing page in November 2026:

Provider Focus Published EOR fee per employee a month Best for
Remunance India only From USD 99, capped at USD 249 Any team hiring in India
Deel Global From $599 Teams in many countries on one contract
Remote Global From $599 on an annual contract Global teams that want annual billing
Multiplier Global $459 annual, $499 month to month Asia-heavy global teams
Wisemonk India $99, $199 or $399 by salary band Small India teams
Oyster Global $699 Global teams that want one HR platform
RemoFirst Global From $199, varies by country Budget global hiring
Rippling Global Not published Teams already on Rippling HR

Every provider on this list runs payroll, PF, ESI, gratuity and TDS for you. What changes is the fee, how well the team knows Indian law and how fast it moves.

How Much Does Deel Cost for an India Employee?

From $599 per employee a month for EOR, or $7,188 a year, whatever the salary. Deel also lists contractor management from $49 a month and contractor of record from $325 a month.

Deel bills month to month with no long-term commitment, its pricing page says. That flexibility is real. But the fee does not scale down for India, so a junior hire costs the same to employ as a senior one.

Why Do Companies Look for Deel Alternatives in India?

Mostly for price. A $599 fee is a small share of a $120,000 US salary. On a typical Indian salary, it is a large one.

The second reason is depth. India has the four Labour Codes, state-wise professional tax and a new Income-tax Act from April 2026. An India-only provider lives with those rules every day.

What Does an India Employee Really Cost With Each Provider?

Four figures comparing Deel's EOR fee with Remunance for an India employee
Deel’s yearly EOR fee against an $18,000 Indian salary, and the minimum saving with Remunance, at published prices in November 2026

Salary, plus about 8.4% in statutory costs, plus the provider’s fee. Only the fee differs, because PF and gratuity are set by law and every EOR passes them through.

We assumed basic pay at half of salary, which the 50% wage rule now makes the norm. On that base, employer PF at 12% and a gratuity provision of 4.81% add about 8.4% of salary. ESI does not apply at these pay levels.

Here is the full yearly cost of one India employee at three salaries, in US dollars:

Provider $18,000 salary $36,000 salary $90,000 salary
Salary plus statutory costs $19,513 $39,025 $97,563
Remunance (USD 99 to 249) $20,701 to $22,501 $40,213 to $42,013 $98,751 to $100,551
Wisemonk $21,901 $41,413 $102,351
Multiplier (annual) $25,021 $44,533 $103,071
Deel $26,701 $46,213 $104,751
Remote (annual) $26,701 $46,213 $104,751
Oyster $27,901 $47,413 $105,951

We left out RemoFirst and Rippling. RemoFirst says its fee may vary by country, and Rippling publishes no EOR price.

What Changes for a Senior Hire on $90,000?

The fee matters less as a share of pay, but the gap stays. Deel’s $7,188 is 8% of a $90,000 salary, and Remunance still saves you at least $4,200 a year.

Salary-band pricing works the other way. Wisemonk’s fee rises to $399 a month above $79,400, so a senior hire costs $4,788 a year in fees. Remunance never charges more than USD 249, so you save at least $1,800 per senior employee.

What Do You Save on a Team of 10?

At least $42,000 a year against Deel, even at Remunance’s USD 249 cap. At the USD 99 starting fee, the saving is $60,000.

That is the cost of two or three more engineers in Pune or Hyderabad, at the salaries in our average salary in India guide. Same compliance. More team.

Why Do Statutory Costs Look the Same Everywhere?

Because the law sets them, not the provider. Employer PF, ESI, gratuity, bonus and professional tax follow the employer contribution rules in India whoever runs payroll.

Gratuity is the one most teams underestimate. It now runs on the wider Code wage base, as our gratuity calculation guide shows. Any honest EOR quote should show it as its own line.

Which Deel Alternative Fits Your India Team?

Remunance, if India is where you hire. A global platform, if India is one of many countries. Here is how each alternative fits.

Is Remunance the Best Deel Alternative for India?

Yes. Remunance is the best EOR in India for teams that want India-depth at an India price. Our founding team has run payroll and hiring in India for 22+ years, first as Remunance Systems, which was later acquired by ADP.

You pay from USD 99 a month per employee, capped at USD 249, as our EOR India pricing page shows. We have hired 1,200+ employees across 34 Indian cities, and Corporate Connect named us India’s Best EOR Service Provider 2024.

We also recruit at 9% of CTC and send offers the same working day.

Is Remote a Good Deel Alternative for India?

For global teams, yes. Remote’s EOR starts at $599 per employee a month on an annual contract, the same as Deel.

So Remote saves you nothing on an India hire. It suits companies that already use it in other countries and want one contract.

Is Multiplier a Good Deel Alternative for India?

It is cheaper than Deel but still a global price. Multiplier lists its EOR at $459 a month on an annual contract, or $499 month to month.

On an $18,000 salary, that is still $5,508 a year in fees. Compared with Remunance, you pay at least $2,520 more per employee.

Is Wisemonk a Good Deel Alternative for India?

It is an India-focused option with salary-band pricing. Wisemonk lists $99 for salaries up to $12,700, $199 up to $79,400 and $399 above that.

The bands matter. On a $90,000 senior hire, Wisemonk’s fee is $399 a month, while Remunance never charges more than USD 249. That is at least $1,800 a year saved per senior employee.

Is Oyster a Good Deel Alternative for India?

Not on price. Oyster’s EOR is USD 699 per employee a month, the highest published fee on this list.

It suits teams that want one global HR platform and accept a premium for it.

Is RemoFirst a Good Deel Alternative for India?

Possibly, for budget global hiring. RemoFirst lists EOR from $199 a month, but says the fee may vary by country.

So confirm the India price in writing before you compare it.

Is Rippling a Good Deel Alternative for India?

Only if you already run Rippling for HR. Rippling’s EOR page publishes no price, so you need a quote.

How Do Deel Alternatives Price Contractors in India?

Most global platforms charge a flat monthly fee per contractor, and a much higher one if they take on the contractor’s legal risk. Here are the published prices:

Provider Contractor payments, per contractor a month Contractor of record, per contractor a month
Deel From $49 From $325
Remote From $29 From $325
Multiplier $40, billed annually $400, billed annually
Oyster USD 29, after a 30-day free trial Not listed
RemoFirst Free tier, Premium $25 Not listed

Paying a contractor is not the same as employing one. If an Indian contractor works fixed hours, for one client, under your direction, Indian law may treat them as an employee, whatever the contract says.

That is the misclassification risk, and it can bring back-dated PF, gratuity and tax claims. Our guide to independent contractor compliance in India sets out the tests.

When Should You Move an Indian Contractor Onto EOR Employment?

When the work looks like a job. Full-time hours, a single client and a manager who sets the day are the clearest signs.

Moving them onto an employer of record fixes the risk and adds PF, gratuity and leave. Our case study shows how Remunance moved consultants and contractors into EOR roles for a client that had outgrown contractor agreements in India.

When Does a Global Platform Like Deel Still Make Sense?

Comparison of a global EOR platform and an India EOR
When a global platform like Deel fits, and when an India EOR like Remunance is the better choice

When India is one of many countries. If you hire in eight or ten countries, one global contract and one dashboard can be worth a higher fee.

A global platform also helps if you need one equity plan administered across many countries, or one HR system of record. Those are real reasons. Price is not one of them for India.

Some companies use both. They keep the global platform for scattered hires and move India, where the team is largest, to an India EOR.

How Do You Switch From Deel to an India EOR?

Five steps to switch an India team from Deel to another EOR
Five steps to move an India team from Deel to an India employer of record without a gap in pay

Agree a cut-over date, sign new employment contracts, settle the old employment and start payroll with the new EOR. Plan it around one payroll cycle.

  1. Pick a cut-over date at a month end, so one payroll closes and the next opens cleanly.
  2. Sign new contracts with the new EOR on the same or better terms, with the same role and pay.
  3. Settle the old employment. The outgoing provider pays final wages within two working days of exit, under the Code on Wages.
  4. Move PF. The employee keeps the same UAN, and EPFO no longer needs employer approval for most transfers.
  5. Run the first new payroll and check TDS, PF and professional tax on the first payslip.

Our guide to EOR switching covers the contract points in more detail.

Does Gratuity Carry Over When You Switch EOR?

Not automatically. Gratuity follows continuous service with one employer, and a switch ends one employment and starts another.

So ask the new EOR to recognise past service in writing before anyone signs. Then years on your old provider’s payroll keep counting towards gratuity.

Will Employees Notice the Switch?

They should notice only a new payslip format. Pay date, salary, leave balances and benefits should all stay the same.

Tell the team early. A short note on why you are switching and what stays the same prevents most worries.

What Should You Check Before Choosing a Deel Alternative?

Price for your salary levels, India depth, statutory pass-through and speed. Ask every provider the same questions.

  • Is the fee capped? Salary-band pricing can jump on senior hires. Remunance caps at USD 249.
  • Who employs your team in India? The provider should employ people on its own Indian registrations.
  • Are statutory costs shown line by line? PF, ESI, gratuity and bonus should each appear on the invoice.
  • How fast is an offer? Ask for the time from signed contract to offer letter.
  • Who checks compliance? Ask whether a qualified accountant reviews payroll and filings.
  • Is data secure? Ask for ISO 27001 certification. Remunance holds ISO/IEC 27001:2022.

Our EOR cost calculator for India shows the full monthly cost for any salary in under a minute.

How Did We Compare These Deel Alternatives?

We used each provider’s own pricing page, opened in November 2026, and took the lowest published employer of record fee that applies to an India employee. Where a provider ties its price to an annual contract, we say so in the table.

We then built one cost model for every provider. It uses the same salary, the same basic pay at half of salary and the same statutory rates, so the only number that moves is the fee.

We left out providers that publish no price or say the price varies by country, because a comparison is only fair when every number can be checked. Prices change often, so confirm the current figure with each provider before you sign.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What Is the Best Deel Alternative for Hiring in India?

Remunance is the best Deel alternative for India. It is an India-only employer of record that charges from USD 99 a month per employee, capped at USD 249, against Deel’s $599. Its founding team has run India payroll and hiring for 22+ years, and it recruits at 9% of CTC with offers sent the same working day.

How Much Does Deel Charge for an Employee in India?

Deel’s employer of record starts at $599 per employee a month, or $7,188 a year, on month-to-month billing. The fee is the same whatever the salary. Salary, employer PF, gratuity and other statutory costs come on top. On an $18,000 Indian salary, the Deel fee alone is about 40% of pay.

What Is the Cheapest Deel Alternative for India?

Remunance’s fee starts at USD 99 a month per employee and never goes above USD 249, which makes it one of the lowest published EOR fees for India. Wisemonk also starts at $99, but its fee rises to $399 above $79,400 of salary. Global platforms such as Multiplier, Remote and Oyster charge $459 to $699.

Is Deel Cheaper Than Remote for India?

No. Deel and Remote both list their employer of record from $599 per employee a month, with Remote’s price tied to an annual contract. For an India employee on an $18,000 salary, both work out at about $26,701 a year including salary and statutory costs. An India EOR such as Remunance costs $20,701 to $22,501.

Can You Move Employees From Deel to Another EOR in India?

Yes. You agree a cut-over date, the new EOR signs fresh employment contracts and the outgoing provider settles final wages within two working days. The employee keeps the same UAN, and PF moves across without employer approval in most cases. Ask the new EOR to recognise past service for gratuity in writing.

Does Switching EOR Affect an Employee's Gratuity?

It can, because gratuity follows continuous service with one employer and a switch starts a new employment. The fix is simple: the new EOR agrees in writing to recognise the employee’s earlier service. Then service on your old provider’s payroll keeps counting towards the five-year gratuity threshold, and nobody loses out at exit.

When Should You Stay With Deel?

Stay with a global platform when India is only a small part of a team spread across many countries, and one contract matters more than cost. Some companies keep Deel for scattered hires and move their India team, usually the largest, to an India EOR such as Remunance to cut fees by $4,200 or more per employee.

Do Deel Alternatives Charge Different Statutory Costs in India?

No. Employer PF, ESI, gratuity, statutory bonus and professional tax are set by Indian law, so every EOR passes through the same amounts. The difference between providers is the service fee and how accurately they run payroll. Ask for an invoice that shows each statutory cost as its own line before you sign.
