Gilead, AstraZeneca and DSV Grow Their India GCCs. What Does It Mean for Your Hiring?
Gilead opened a Bengaluru GCC for AI and cybersecurity, while DSV and AstraZeneca grew theirs. See what it means for your India hiring in 3 minutes.
Quick Summary
What You Need to Know
- ✔ Gilead Sciences opened its Gilead Capabilities Center India in Bengaluru, starting with cybersecurity and AI.
- ✔ DSV opened a consolidated GCC office in Hyderabad’s HITEC City, alongside its India headquarters in Noida.
- ✔ AstraZeneca named Naveen Krishna Yamarthi MD and head of its Chennai technology centre from 30 October 2026.
- ✔ India now has 2,117 GCCs employing 2.36 million people, according to the Zinnov-Nasscom 2026 report.
Three more global companies grew their India capability centres this week. The work they are bringing in-house is AI, cybersecurity and supply chain technology. Gilead Sciences opened in Bengaluru, DSV consolidated its centres in Hyderabad and AstraZeneca named a new head for its Chennai centre, GCC Pulse reported.
For every other company hiring in India, that means more competition for the same specialists. GCC hiring rose 18% in October, as our Naukri JobSpeak breakdown shows.
You don’t need a full centre to hire that talent. The best EOR in India can put your first engineers on payroll without an Indian entity, while you decide whether a GCC makes sense.
What Did Gilead, AstraZeneca and DSV Announce?
One new centre, one consolidation and one leadership change. Here is what each company announced, with Lowe’s added for scale:
| Company | City | What is new | Focus |
| Gilead Sciences | Bengaluru | Opened Gilead Capabilities Center India | Cybersecurity and AI first |
| DSV | Hyderabad | New consolidated GCC office in HITEC City | Global IT, with Noida as India HQ |
| AstraZeneca | Chennai | New MD and head of its technology centre | Supply chain, procurement and manufacturing tech |
| Lowe’s | Bengaluru | New office for its India team | 4,500+ associates across tech and analytics |
Gilead’s centre will bring “more technology and digital expertise inside the company,” Andrew Dickinson said, as GCC Pulse reported on the Bengaluru opening.
DSV said consolidating into two main locations helps it “stay close to the talent hubs,” according to GCC Pulse’s report on the Hyderabad office. AstraZeneca’s Naveen Krishna Yamarthi took charge of its Chennai centre on 30 October 2026, GCC Pulse noted.
Why Are Healthcare and Logistics Companies Building GCCs in India?

To own their technology instead of renting it. Gilead starts with cybersecurity and AI. AstraZeneca’s Chennai centre supports supply chain, procurement and manufacturing.
These companies are joining a large base. India has 2,117 GCCs with 2.36 million people, and 504 of them are backed by private equity, according to the Zinnov-Nasscom 2026 GCC report.
Lowe’s shows what a mature centre looks like. It set up in Bengaluru in 2014 and now has more than 4,500 associates, GCC Pulse reported.
What Does This Mean for Companies Hiring in India?
More competition for AI, cybersecurity and data talent in Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai. A GCC can outbid most small teams. On salary and on brand.
So plan for it. Benchmark offers against average salaries in India, expect more counter offers and move fast once a candidate says yes.
Look at the cities too. Our guide to GCC hubs in India compares where each kind of talent sits. Don’t default to Bengaluru.
Do You Need a Full GCC to Hire This Talent?
No. Most mid-market firms start small on an employer of record. They build their own centre once headcount justifies it.
Here is the maths for 10 engineers, fees only. On Remunance’s EOR, that is 10 × USD 99 to USD 249, or USD 990 to USD 2,490 a month. On a $599 global platform, it is $5,990 a month.
Setting up your own entity takes 10 to 16 weeks, as our guide to the cost of setting up a GCC in India explains. Our guide to building a GCC through the EOR model shows how to start lean and move later.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What Is a GCC in India?
A global capability centre is an offshore unit a multinational owns and runs in India to do work for the parent company, such as technology, finance, analytics or research. Unlike outsourcing, the company employs the staff directly. Gilead’s new Bengaluru centre and AstraZeneca’s Chennai centre are examples.
How Many GCCs Are There in India in 2026?
India has 2,117 GCCs employing 2.36 million people in FY2026, according to the Zinnov-Nasscom 2026 GCC report. They generate $98.4 billion in revenue, and 504 are backed by private equity. New centres keep opening across Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai and Pune.
Can You Start a GCC With an Employer of Record?
Yes. An employer of record employs your first India team under Indian law while you have no entity, so you can hire in days. Remunance, the best EOR in India for GCC launches, then helps you set up your own subsidiary and move the team across when headcount justifies it.
